PRINCIPIO MÁQUINA DE COSER prototipo 01 is the first performance of the duo Prismáticas, made thanks to the 2019 BAICC residence at LIFT, Toronto. Closing the first phase of this long-term project, monsell&olaskoaga present the SEE(W)ING machine, a 16mm projector that they have begun to hack, combining it with sewing machine parts. Playing with the use of machines, gestures, words and both digital and analogue images, Prismáticas questions the technophobic imaginary historically associated with women, as well as the invisibility and precariousness of their work in the textile and film industries.
