DESBORDAMIENTOS

LEC (MÉXICO)

The creative freedom and formal search that are brewing in the LEC (Laboratorio Experimental de Cine) are the origin of these two performances in which live improvisation and research on analogue film media are fundamental. Projects that have a collaborative spirit and a will to build bridges with the communities they visit, in this case through collaboration with Luis Garrido and Alexandre Losada, musicians from Pontevedra who have spent years exploring pathways in improvisational music, electroacoustic experimentation and less-domesticated rock. Old record players, homemade synthesizers, saxophones, guitars, cassette tapes, radios and contact microphones form an essential part of their audio arsenal in a constant search for new frameworks to move (in their own words), an arsenal which joins together with that of the LEC, composed of projectors and various visual devices in this double-session of new visual and audio experiences.

DESAPARECER
LEC, Mexico, 2016, Multi-projector performance, 30 min.
To disappear. To cease to be visible or in a place / to cease to exist. In the vast territory of Mexico, on average, one person disappears every hour and 50 minutes; that is, 13 people every day. This audio and visual performance speaks of the brevity of presence, the possibility of not being any longer, of searching and self-searching, through the use of a 16mm film format. Elena Pardo and Manuel Trujillo turn to their personal images and landscapes in this performance accompanied by the live, improvised sound of Luis Garrido and Alexandre Losada.
